Essential Baking Tools | Baking For Beginners!

Hello lovelies,

Today I’m sharing with you instalment 2 of my ‘Baking For Beginners’ series. A series I’ve started on my blog to share everything I possibly can about baking and the things you’ll need to get started on your baking journey!

If you haven’t seen already, instalment 1 of my ‘Baking For Beginners’ series was my ‘Essential Ingredients You Should Always Have In Your Cupboard’. If the title isn’t explanatory enough, I just shared with you the essential ingredients you’ll need to bake any kind of cake, cookie, loaf etc. You can almost guarantee that at least 3/4 of the ingredients I’ve shared with you will be in a recipe you want to do!

So today I thought it was the right time to share the baking tools you’ll need to have when starting your journey.

Now you won’t need to go out and buy all these tools at once (that would be incredibly expensive haha) but I will be completely honest with you, you do need these if you want to start baking and branching out with your bakes.

Alongside ingredients, equipment is key when it comes to baking and it going to plan. You could easily scrimp out on the equipment but can I guarantee your bakes will come out the way you’d hoped?… probably not!

So if you’d like to know what equipment you do defiantly need in your cupboards, then please keep on reading;

Bake Wear You’ll Need:

when it comes to ‘bake wear’ I’d highly recommend paying that little bit extra and getting yourself some good quality items! When it comes to bake wear, I personally think that it’s worth buying the higher quality gear as you can guarantee it will last.

  • Circle Baking Tin ( Id Recommend Loose Bottomed )
  • Square Baking Tin ( Id Recommend Loose Bottomed )
  • Baking Tray
  • Wire Rack
  • 12 Hole Muffin Tin / Cupcake Tin
  • Loaf Tin

The one store I’d highly recommend buying your bake wear from is Lakeland’s – https://www.lakeland.co.uk/in-the-kitchen/baking/bakeware?intcmp=INTSRCH:baking-tins

Baking Tools You Need:

Unlike bake wear, you don’t need to spend crazy amounts of money on baking tools. Baking tools can be good quality even if the price is lower. I know most of my items I have in my baking kit are not exactly expensive and they still work exactly how I want them too. But if you did want to know what I’d spend extra money on, then I’ll place a ‘*’ next to the item.

  • Rolling Pin
  • Chopping Board
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Palette Knife
  • Electric Whisk *
  • Handheld Whisk
  • A Couple Of Mixing Bowls
  • Measuring Jug
  • Sieve
  • Spatula
  • Pastry Brush
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Measuring Scales ( I’d Recommend Electric Scales ) *
  • Cookie Cutters

The best places I’d recommend to buy baking tools is from:

Amazon – https://www.lakeland.co.uk/in-the-kitchen/baking/

Lakeland’s – https://www.lakeland.co.uk/in-the-kitchen/baking/

Decorating Tools You Need:

Cake decorating is the fun part when it comes to baking! Now I’d defiantly say buying decorating items can vary in price. Some of the decorating items may need to be a bit more high quality then others, but that’s your judgment to make. I’ve learnt over the years that it’s trial and error with buying decorating tools, some will be brilliant whereas others will leave a lot to be desired. I’ll place a ‘*’ next to the items I believe you need to pay a little extra for.

  • Piping Bags *
  • Stainless Steel Piping Nozzles *
  • Icing Rotating Turn Table
  • Sugarcraft Modelling Tools
  • Cupcake Cases
  • Food Colourings *
  • Icing Spreader & Smoother
  • Decorating Sprinkles – https://www.cake-angels.co.uk
  • Ready To Roll Coloured Icing / Fondant Icing

The best places I’d recommend to buy cake decorating tools from is:

That brings us to the end of today’s instalment of ‘Baking For Beginners’ series!

I really hope today’s blogpost helped! I know it can be incredibly overwhelming looking at a list like the one above but build your equipment up little by little. You don’t need all those items to make a cake for example, I’m just sharing with you the equipment you’ll need overall if your looking at getting into baking properly.

Is there anything you’d like to know about baking? let me know as i want to make this series as insightful and helpful as possible.

Sending tons of love & hugs to you all as always,

Elle xo
