Category: Sweet Treat

Servings: 10-15 Truffles

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Chill Time: 40-60 Minutes

Decorating Time: 15 Minutes

Overall Time: 1Hour 25Minutes

Ingredients You Need For The Truffles:

  • 36 Original Oreo’s
  • 200g Of Philadelphia Cream Cheese

Ingredients You Need To Decorate:

  • 150g Of White Chocolate
  • Light Pink Food Colouring
  • Dark Pink Food Colouring
  • Valentines Day Sprinkles, Optional

How To Make The Truffles:

  • Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Secondly, in a food processor place the 36 Oreo’s and pulse until you have a fine crumb. Alternatively, place the 36 Oreo’s into a ziplock bag and bash with a rolling pin until you have a fine crumb.
  • Next, add the 200g cream cheese into the food processor and pulse again until the crumbs and cream cheese are combined. Alternatively, place the fine crumb into a large mixing bowl and mix in the cream cheese until everything is combined.
  • Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out into small portions and between the palm of your hands, roll into small balls.
  • Place the balls onto the pre-lined baking tray and place into the freezer to chill for around 20 minutes, until firm.

How To Decorate The Truffles:

  • Towards the end of the 20 minutes, place the 150g of white chocolate into a Bain-Marie and stir until completely melted.
  • Once melted, remove from the heat and add in 2-3 drops of light pink food colouring and stir until the white chocolate is now completely pink.
  • Allow the melted chocolate to sit to one side for 10 minutes to cool slightly.
  • Remove the truffles from the freezer and dip each of the balls into the melted chocolate until completely coated.
  • When coated, place back onto the pre-lined baking tray.
  • Now that all the truffles are coated, with the left over melted chocolate, add 2-3 drops of a darker pink food colouring and stir until combined.
  • Place the remaining melted chocolate into a small piping bag, cut the very tip of the piping bag off and drizzle the remaining chocolate over the top of the truffles.
  • Sprinkle the Valentine’s Day sprinkles over the top of each truffle.
  • Finally, place into the fridge to set for 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to completely set.

That’s your Oreo Truffles prepared, chilled, decorated and chilled again, ready for you to enjoy!

Notes:

I enjoy Oreo’s but have never considered using them to make other tasty things with them. This does sound nice and easy, and a very cute idea for a Valentine’s Day gift.
