Hello lovelies,
As many of you will know, I’ve spent the last 6 years in and out of hospital. Sometimes I could be in there a few days whereas others I could be in there for weeks at a time.
It’s never easy going into hospital, wether it’s for a routine operation or you’ve been taken Ill, regardless of the situation all you want is to be at home surrounded by the ones you love. Unfortunately, we all have a time where we need to go into hospital for something and one thing I will always remember about my first few trips into hospital is the not knowing what to take in my hospital bag.
Remembering/knowing what to pack is really difficult, sometimes you don’t even know how long you’ll be in there so having a list of items to remember is key! Which is why I’m coming at you today with this blogpost.
Wether it’s cosies, entertainment or essentials, you need to remember it all so today I’ve put together a Hospital Bag Guide, where I tell you everything you NEED to remember when packing a bag for yourself or someone you love. Let’s jump into it:
Things You NEED When Going Into Hospital:
Cosies:
One of my main priorities when it comes to packing my hospital bag, is packing all my comfy clothes. When your in hospital, the home sickness kicks in pretty quickly and one of the biggest home comforts for me, is my comfies. I pretty much live in my comfy clothes and when being in hospital, there’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in what your wearing so I’d highly recommend doing this step first. Wether it’s pyjamas, joggers, hoodies or your favourite nighty, all are going to be a great comfort to you whilst your in hospital and going through a rough time!
- Cosy Pyjamas
- Nighties
- Fluffy Socks
- Dressing Gown
- Joggers
- Hoodie
Entertainment:
The hardest thing about being in hospital is boredom, it hits pretty quickly and although, all your probably want to do is sleep – that my friends doesn’t happen much during a hospital stay! Therefore, packing some light entertainment is key. For me, art & blogging was always my escape whilst spending time in hospital but I know that isn’t the case for everyone. So, I’ve listed below some entertainment which may be worth looking into, anything is worthwhile to make the time pass quicker!
- Reading Book / Kindle
- iPad With Games On
- Colour By Numbers
- Note Books For Writing
- School/Collage/Uni Work
- Phone / IPod For Music & Headphones
- Creating Content / Editing For Blogging & Youtube
- Laptop
- Sketch Pad & Pens/Pencils
Essentials:
Now, packing a hospital bag can be challenging, especially if your pushed for time. So, below I’ve listed the essentials that you NEED to remember when packing for a stay in hospital. Wether it’s one night or two weeks, this is everything you’ll need to remember as the hospital doesn’t supply anything for you (possibly a sexy hospital gown if your lucky and towels).
- Tooth Brush / Tooth Paste
- Hair Brush / Hair Bands / Hair Clips
- Change Of Underwear
- Razor
- Shampoo & Conditioner
- Shower Gel / Soap
- Sponge
- Hair Dryer
- Retainers
- Phone Charger
- V Pillow
I really hope today’s blogpost helped at least one of you guys out. I know it’s a real big stress going into hospital and knowing you’ve got this little check list to read upon whenever you feel like it should help put your mind at ease a little.
Coming from someone whose spent 6 years of their life in and out of hospital, please don’t go worrying yourself to much about it. If you bring all your ‘home comforts’ it will certainly make your time in hospital easier (as you’ll feel more comfortable in yourself).
It’s such a scary thought going in for an operation or being taken Ill, but believe me when I say hospital stays aren’t half as scary as some people make out. Admittedly, you have to overcome some fears surrounding the hospital, but once you’ve stepped over that hurdle, you’ll fly through the rest of your stay.
Anyone whose got a hospital stay upcoming, please know that I’ll be thinking of you and if you need any advice, comforting or someone to just listen, then my messages are always open.
Sending you all tons of love and hugs as always,
Elle xo
