Hello lovelies,
2018 was the year of baking for me. Admittedly, I did start baking throughout late 2016, early 2017 BUT I learnt so much more about baking, improved on my skills and tested my ability massively in 2018.
I’ve really put myself through the paces last year, I took myself away from using others recipes and decided to go into each bake blind, so I could teach myself about baking properly. I came up with many of my own recipes last year and it’s something I’m really proud of. It’s not only helped build my confidence when baking, but I know it’s helped many others too. ‘no bake is too hard’ is my new motto!
Therefore, 2019 I’m coming back bigger and better. I’m going to really work on my tasty treats and I’m making sure I start to learn savoury baking also. I’ve got many bakes lined up for this coming year, so get excited and ready to indulge.
Though, I’m not actually baking today! Instead, I wanted to share with you some of the incredible ‘baking’ presents I received for Christmas. When my parents asked for some guidance in what presents to buy me, I asked them to surprise me with some baking goodies, as it is a hobby I’m passionate about and want to improve upon constantly. Let’s just say, I was blown away with the presents I received and it’s something I thought might interest you baking lovers… shall we get started;
What Baking Presents I Got For Christmas 2018:
Kitchen Aids:
- Andrew James, Ice Cream Maker Machine
- Debenhams, Donut Maker
Both of these Aids were massive surprises for me! I’d spoke to my mum earlier in the year saying I’d love to invest in both a ice cream and donut machine as I’d love to learn how to make my own, so my parents surprised me with them for Christmas. Can’t wait to bring my ideas that I have for recipes, alive!
Equipment:
- Baking Tongs
- Different Size Tweezers
- Miniature Rolling Pin
- Paul Hollywood, Wooden Rolling Pin With Different Measurements
- Embossed Fondant Rolling Pin
- Fearne Cotton, 2-Piece Mini Heart Shaped Tins
- Reusable Silicon Cupcake Cases
- Slate & Wood Serving Board
My mum had asked me for some Christmas present ideas earlier in the year and I mentioned that I needed more ‘professional’ pieces of equipment as they come in handy at all times when baking. I’ll certainly be putting these incredible items to use throughout my baking years.
Baking Decorations:
- Cake Angels, Rhubarb & Custard Sprinkles
- Cake Angels, Rainbow Sprinkles
- Cake Angels, Zillionaire Sprinkles
- Cake Angels, Intergalactic Sprinkles
- Cake Angels, Ducks – Hey Baby Sugar Decorations
- Cake Angels, Day Of The Dead ‘Trick Or Treat’ Sugar Decorations
- Cake Angels, Tropical – Ahola Sugar Decorations
Now, as a baker you’ll know, you can NEVER have enough decorations. They constantly come in handy when it comes to decorating a bake you’ve done, to brighten them up. I’m a little obsessed with buying sprinkles, as the variety is endless! I’d highly recommend Cake Angels to anyone who loves to bake or you just need for a one time bake. They are a unbelievably cheap brand that creates unique pieces.
Personalised Pieces:
- Personalised Apron, Saying ‘Baking My Tits Off’
- Personalised Apron, Saying ‘Elle, Queen Of Baking’
- Personalised Apron, Saying ‘Elle Don’t Share Food’
- Personalised Wooden Spoon, Saying ‘Elle, The Baking Queen’
I was so spoilt when it came to personalised items this year! My mum & two bestfriends brought me personalised aprons this year for christmas, all of which have a cute/funny meaning behind them. I’m excited to get them messy this year (rather an apron then the state of me after baking! Flour / icing sugar explosions get me everytime). I was also gift my own personalised wooden spoon from my mum and it’s something I’ve wanted for so long now, such a cute piece to add to your dream kitchen range!
I was incredibly spoilt this year for Christmas, and I’m beyond grateful to my parents & bestfriends for my baking gifts.
Baking isn’t just a hobby, it’s therapy for me (even if I do turn into Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen). It’s something I always put ‘my all’ into and to see others enjoyment when eating my bakes, makes my miniature meltdowns all worth it.
I’m putting it out their now, 2019 is the year for Bakes By Elle and I can’t wait for you to read my recipes. Oh, and I get to put all my new baking gifts to use! I’m so excited.
Did you get any baking goodies for Christmas? Let me know in the comments below or on my social media platforms, I’m always so interested to see what you guys have to say.
Sending all my love and hugs to you as always,
Elle xo
You will enjoy the donut baker. I have worn two of them out over the years. You can use cake mix when you are in a hurry or lazy to make the donuts. I am glad you were given gifts that will keep giving in your kitchen.
