Hello lovelies,
Halloween has passed us by for another year, Mariah Carey has officially defrosted and in the words of the king of christmas, Michael Bublé himself: ‘it’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas’.
The moment the clock strikes 12am on the 1st of November, my inner child comes out squealing as it’s officially the festive period, the best time of year in my opinion!
If you’ve been around here a while, you’ll know that every christmas time without fail, I make some kind of Black Forest desert. It’s my dad’s all time favourite desert I make and it’s only right I carry on the tradition for another year.
I’ve got a list on my phone of Black Forest deserts i want to make and tick off my list, 3 years ago I created this tradition and it’s one thing I look forward to doing every christmas period. So far, I’ve made a Black Forest cheesecake, trifle, pavlova and brownie cookie sandwiches – all of which you guys have loved.
Therefore, I’m back again kick starting the festive period with a delicious Black Forest desert that I knew my dad and you guys would love. I really wanted to make something simple yet effective and these Black Forest cupcakes are just that.
Quick, easy, tastes delicious and look fabulous, what more could you want?
So, if these Black Forest cupcakes have caught your attention and got you in the festive spirit, you know the drill by now. Keep on scrolling below and you’ll find today’s recipe.

Ingredients You Need For The Chocolate Cupcakes:
- 175g Of Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 100g Of Caster Sugar
- 75g Of Dark Brown Sugar
- 3 Large Eggs
- 2tbsp Of Whole Milk
- 150g Of Self-Raising Flour

- 400ml Of Double Cream
- 1tbsp Of Icing Sugar
- 1tsp Of Vanilla Bean Paste / Extract
- 25g Of Milk Chocolate, Grated
- 12 Fresh Cherries
How To Make The Chocolate Cupcakes:
- Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients, line a 12 hole cupcake tin with cupcake cases and preheat the oven to 180C / 160C Fan / Gas Mark 4.
- Secondly, in a stand mixer or in a large bowl, beat together the 175g of unsalted butter, 100g of caster sugar and 75g of dark brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Next, one at a time, beating well between each addition, beat in the 3 large eggs and 2tbsp of whole milk.
- Then, add in the 150g of self-raising flour, 25g of cocoa powder and 1/4tsp of baking powder and gently fold through until everything is combined.
- Divide the cake batter between the 12 cupcake cases and place them into the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes, until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- When baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring onto a wire rack to cool completely.
How To Add The Filling:
- Now that the cupcakes are cool, using a cake corer, apple corer or knife, make a hole in the centre of each cupcake.
- Fill each of the holes with cherry conserve right to the top.
How To Decorate:
- In the stand mixer or in a large bowl, whisk the 400ml of double cream, 1tbsp of icing sugar and 1tsp of vanilla extract until thick (be careful not to over whip the cream).
- Transfer the thickened double cream into a large piping bag with a 2D star nozzle attached and pipe swirls onto the top of each cupcake.
- Using a grater, grate the 25g of milk chocolate across the top of each cupcake.
- Finally, top each of the cupcakes with a fresh cherry.
That’s your Black Forest Cupcakes prepared, baked and decorated, ready for you to enjoy!
Notes:
- Store the cupcakes in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For the freshest taste, eat on the day of baking.
- It is a must that you use double cream and not singular cream as it won’t whip up.
