No Bake Malteser Shortbread Slice Recipe!

Hello lovelies,

It’s been a hot minute since we indulged in some real chocolatey goodness around here, therefore, I felt it was about time I changed that. Because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a chocolatey treat?

This recipe is kind of goodness which satisfies those chocolatey craving which constantly kibble at your mind (and stomach) throughout the day. The kind of goodness that you know is naughty which makes every mouthful all the better. The kind of goodness that is quick and easy to make so perfect for those who don’t like long recipes. It’s the kind of goodness each and every one of you need in your life right now and I won’t hear differently.

Although, I can’t take credit for today’s chocolatey goodness, this recipe is inspired by an incredibly talented baker / food blogger named Lucy, also known online as ‘bakingqueen74’.

Lucy shared this recipe and it instantly caught my attention for two reasons, one being that it reminds me of a rocky road which is a family favourite and secondly purely because of its simplicity. It’s quick, easy, requires zero baking and is a chocolate lovers dream. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, who on earth wouldn’t love a chocolatey treat like this?

Category: Sweet Treat

Servings: 12-15 Pieces

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Chill Time: 2-4 Hours

Overall Time: 4+ Hours

Ingredients You Need:

  • 600g Of Milk Chocolate
  • 6tbsp Of Golden Syrup
  • 170g Of Unsalted Butter
  • 250g Of Shortbread Fingers
  • 350g Of Maltesers ( 2 Share Bags )

How To Make The Malteser Shortbread Slice:

  • Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients and line a loaf tin with parchment paper.
  • Secondly, in a large microwavable bowl, add the 600g of milk chocolate, 6tbsp of golden syrup and 170g of unsalted butter. Place into the microwave and blast at high for 1 minute, until fully melted.
  • TIP: if at this point the chocolate has began to seize, add a splash of milk and stir well until the chocolate mixture is silky smooth.
  • Set the chocolate to one side.
  • Next, place a layer of shortbread fingers across the bottom of the lined loaf tin.
  • Now, pour 1/4 of the chocolate mixture across the top of the shortbread fingers.
  • Sprinkle 1 packet of malteser balls over the top of the chocolate.
  • Then, add a second layer of shortbread fingers across the top of the chocolate malteser balls layer.
  • Add the remaining 3/4 of chocolate across the top of the shortbread fingers, making sure every layer and the top is completely covered. Smooth over with a spoon.
  • Sprinkle the second packet of malteser balls over the top of the chocolate.
  • Immediately place into the fridge on a level surface and allow 2-4 hours to chill and set the slice.
  • Finally, once completely solid, slice into chunks and share with your loved ones.

That’s your No Bake Malteser Shortbread Slice prepared and chilled, ready for you to enjoy!

Notes:

  • After 2-4 hours, check the malteser slice that’s in the fridge to see if it’s fully set, if not, then leave for an hour or two longer. You want this to be as set as possible to make it easier to slice.
  • I use a 2lb loaf tin for this recipe, but if you’re using a 1lb loaf tin, I’d recommend halving the recipe.
  • This should be kept in the fridge and last for up to 4-5 days.

I’m thrilled with the outcome of this slice! It’s every chocolate lovers dream.

Don’t you just love the simplicity of recipes like this. Where no baking is involved, it’s easy to make and has very little ingredients – it’s a winner all round, if I do say so myself.

Huge shoutout to Lucy for creating such a delicious recipe. My family devoured this and I can guarantee yours will too!
