Hello lovelies,
Happy September my loves. As the clock chimes 12am on the 1st of September you know what that means right?… it’s officially autumn in my eyes and I couldn’t be happier about it.
It’s time to dust off those spices that are at the back of the cupboard awaiting to be used and get yourself prepared for those warm, autumnal bakes that are upcoming.
I’m kick starting the autumnal season with a recipe completely inspired by the incredible Eloise, also known as ‘Fitwaffle Kitchen’ online.
Eloise shared a reel of a recipe she had made back last year that I knew I had to recreate. Let’s just say, it certainly didn’t disappoint!

A cinnamon roll banana cake may sound odd to some, but this is one of those bakes that you have to trust me when I say that the flavours come together beautifully to create the most moist, warm, comforting cake – perfect for the cosy nights ahead.
So, if this cake has caught your attention and got you wanting more, you know the drill by now. Keep on scrolling below and you’ll find today’s recipe.

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Bake Time: 45-55 Minutes
Decorating Time: 5 Minutes
Overall Time: 1.5Hours
Ingredients You Need For The Cinnamon Sugar:
- 150g Of Light Brown Sugar
- 2tbsp Of Ground Cinnamon
- 100g Of Unsalted Butter, Melted
Ingredients You Need For The Banana Cake:
- 360g Of Plain Flour
- 200g Of Caster Sugar
- 4tsp Of Baking Powder
- 2 Large Eggs
- 300ml Of Whole Milk
- 2tsp Of Vanilla Bean Paste / Extract
- 110g Of Unsalted Butter, Melted
- 3 Large Ripe Bananas, Mashed
Ingredients You Need For The Icing:
- 200g Of Icing Sugar
- 2-3tbsp Of Whole Milk
How To Make:
- Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients, line a 8” loose-bottomed, square baking tin with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 180C / 160C Fan / Gas Mark 4.
- Secondly, in a small bowl, mix together the 150g of light brown sugar, 2tbsp of ground cinnamon and 100g of melted unsalted butter until combined. Then, set to one side.
- Next, in a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 360g of plain flour, 200g of caster sugar and 4tsp of baking powder until combined.
- Next, whisk the 2 large eggs, 300ml of milk and 2tsp of vanilla extract into the dry ingredients, until just combined.
- Now, stir in the 110g of melted unsalted butter until combined. Then, fold in 3 mashed ripe banana’s.
- Pour half the cake batter into the prepared baking tin and spread across the tin evenly. Dollop on half the cinnamon sugar mix and swirl it through with a knife.
- Then, pour the remaining cake batter on top and dollop the remaining cinnamon sugar over the top and swirl it through again.
- Place the cake into the oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and set to one side.
- In a small bowl, mix together the 200g of icing sugar and 2-3tbsp of milk until a thick but pourable paste has formed.
- Whilst the cake is still warm, pour the icing over the top of the entire cake (the icing will set as the cake cools).
- Finally, allow the cake to cool for 20ish minutes, carefully remove from the tin, cut into 12-16 slices and serve!
That’s your Cinnamon Roll Banana Cake prepared, baked, iced and cooled, ready for you to enjoy.
Notes:
- This cake can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- You can add extracts or spices to the glaze to give the cake an extra layer of flavour.
- This can be served warm or cold, depending on what you prefer.

A really simple recipe to make and bake which bursts with flavour and instantly gets you wanting another slice.
This is the type of recipe that feels like a hug from within. The best type of recipe to kick start the autumnal season with.
