Hello lovelies,
If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll know I love adding different spices to my bakes to give them the most delicious taste. One of my favourites to work with being… cinnamon!
Adding cinnamon to a bake takes it to the next level. It adds a beautiful depth of flavour which I can’t physically get enough of.
Therefore, when I saw these cinnamon roll pancakes all over my social media, you best believe I needed to jump on that bandwagon straight away and get creating a batch for myself.
Let’s just say, these pancakes certainly didn’t disappoint! I absolutely love cinnamon rolls, they are a guilty pleasure of mine and to add that incredible flavour into a pancake is genius. Whoever came up with this idea originally needs a knighthood in my humble opinion.
An American style pancake with a cinnamon roll swirl centre and a cream cheese frosting – utter perfection… need I say more.
So, if you’d like to make these cinnamon roll pancakes yourself, you know the drill. Keep on scrolling below and you’ll find today’s recipe.

Category: Breakfast / Sweet Treat
Servings: 4 Large Pancakes Or 6 Smaller Pancakes
Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Bake Time: 15 Minutes
Overall Time: 35-40 Minutes
Ingredients You Need For The American Pancakes:
- 200g Of Self-Raising Flour
- 1.5tsp Of Baking Powder
- 1tbsp Of Golden Caster Sugar
- 3 Large Eggs
- 25g Of Butter, Melted
- 200ml Of Milk
Ingredients You Need For The Cinnamon Roll Swirl:
- 40g Of Light Brown Sugar
- 2tsp Of Ground Sweet Cinnamon
- 30g Of Unsalted Butter, Melted
Ingredients You Need For The Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 30g Of Cream Cheese
- 30g Of Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 40g Of Icing Sugar
How To Make The American Pancakes:
- Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients.
- Secondly, in a large bowl, whisk together the 200g of self-raising flour, 1tbsp of golden caster sugar and 1.5tsp of baking powder.
- Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and add the 3 large eggs, 25g of melted butter and 200ml of milk.
- Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until fully combined.
- Set the batter aside for 10 minutes to rest.
How To Make The Cinnamon Roll Swirl:
- Whilst the pancake batter is resting, in a small bowl, mix together the 40g of light brown sugar, 2tsp of ground cinnamon and 30g of melted unsalted butter until combined.
- After the batter has rested, add 1tbsp of batter into the cinnamon roll mixture and mix together until combined (this should thicken your cinnamon mixture).
- Transfer the cinnamon mixture into a small piping bag and snip the very tip off.
How To Assemble:
- In a well oiled small frying pan over a medium/high heat, add 1tbsp of the American pancake batter into the pan and in a spiral, pipe the cinnamon mixture into the centre of one side of the pancake.

- Cook the pancakes on one side for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown and then flip to cook the other side (you might notice some of the cinnamon layer seeping out the sides, that’s perfectly normal, do not worry).
- Once cooked, remove from the pan onto a plate. Repeat these steps until all the batter and cinnamon mixture has been used up.
How To Make The Cream Cheese Frosting:
- When the pancakes are done, in a small bowl, mix together the 30g of cream cheese with 30g of softened butter and 40g of sieved icing sugar until a runny frosting forms.
- Finally, drizzle the cream cheese frosting over the top of the hot cinnamon roll pancakes and serve!
That’s your Cinnamon Roll Pancakes prepared, baked and drizzled, ready for you to enjoy!
Notes:
- I would personally recommend eating the pancakes on the day of making for the freshest taste. However, you can store the pancakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours.
- If you’re not eating the pancakes on the day of making, I’d recommend heating up in the microwave for 10 seconds, this will make the chocolate centre all gooey.
- Only make and add the cream cheese frosting when serving.
