I think it’s fair to say having a collection with Mac Cosmetics (or any brand in that matter) is a makeup guru’s dream. So when Patrick Starrr released his video with a preview of his makeup collection with MAC, it shook every makeup lovers world.
I’ve been a huge supporter of Patrick’s for what feels like forever. If you don’t know who he is, then you are missing out as he is one of a kind! Patrick is the OG of YouTube and quite frankly, he has changed the lives of many by being a “man in makeup”. He wears makeup with pride and why shouldn’t he? He’s made so many young boys/men feel confident in wearing makeup and to me that’s inspirational as without him, they wouldn’t feel that was possible! He’s an incredible makeup artist, who creates looks from simple to flamboyant and he never fails to entertain! He also created the slogan “Makeup Is A One Size Fits All” which couldn’t be more true. Can you tell I’m obsessed with him?
Anyway, on 14th of December 2017 Patrick brought out his first collection with Mac. This collection really described Patrick and is a pretty damn cute collection! So of course, me being me, a makeup addict (it’s a real addiction… okay) had to pick up some of the products didn’t I? Which can I add, I’m absolutely LOVING! especially “Patrick’s Powder”. BUT the collection I’m going to be talking about today is Patrick’s newest Collection with Mac.
On the 19th Of April 2017, MAC x Patrick Starrr Floral Realness was released, which is his spring collection. When he released his first collection back in December I didn’t think he could top that collection BUT I was wrong, as this collection is just as beautiful, if not maybe a little more.
I do believe these products aren’t sold separately (I could be wrong) but I’m sure this is a complete kit of products for the entire face! this kit includes; a lipstick, lipgloss, eyeshadow quad and powder blush duo. Patrick has created two totally different coloured themed kits which you can choose from, they’re called “Me So Fleek” (this is the one I brought) and “Me So Chic”. Each kit costing £49.50 which is unbelievably good value for money because if you brought these items separately they’d cost over £100!
The box in which all the products arrive in is probably one of the prettiest packaging boxes a brand/youtuber collaboration has made. The packaging was specially designed by Patrick & his team to be pink with kaleidoscopic floral motif, plus of course the Patrick Starrr signature across it to add that extra glam.
Now, inside the box. the packaging which the products come in defiantly have different opinions on them. I can see both sides but personally, I don’t mind the packaging, I think it’s pretty! Each product is packed into pink plastic packaging which has the same kaleidoscopic floral motif sticker on it as box it came in. The difference of opinion is that people are saying the packaging makes it look quite childish (like children’s makeup even), which you may or may not agree with but nevertheless you can’t deny it’s pretty and it’s suitable/handy for travelling etc.
When it comes to products obviously I can only review the Kit which I got, called “Me So Fleek”, I hope you don’t mind but personally it was my favourite between the two!
With it being Mac, you know the pigmentation is going to be bomb but honestly, I didn’t realise how good it was going to be if I’m completely honest.
- The Eyeshadows; this quad is vibrant, pigmented and blends through your crease like a dream. In the Palette you’ve got one mattes, two frosts & a shimmer! When applying any of these shades to your lid, you don’t even need to use Fix + as they all apply beautifully without but using Fix+ makes them metallic! literally incredible.
- The Blushes; this duo contains one half which is matte (plum) and one half which is a shimmer (coral pink). This is like the eyeshadow quad a pigmented and easily bendable blusher, which is vibrant so you only need to use it lightly.
- Lipstick; this lipstick is everything if your a purple lover! It’s not patchy, it glides on like a dream and honestly with one swipe the pigmentation just blows you away.
- Lipgloss; for a glittery gloss, this isn’t chunky, gritty or sticky in the slightest way which is what you’d want in a gloss like this. It glides onto the lips smoothly and feels so lightweight!
