Hey my loves, hope August is treating you well!
These past couple of weeks have been hectic for me so when we finally got a free day with some sunshine me and my dad jumped at the chance to go down to Preston Park to capture the pure paradise of the summer flowers which have finally bloomed. The last time we both came down to the park was in spring and seeing the difference was shocking. Unfortunately it was Gay Pride two days after so a lot of the park was sectioned off but the parts we got to stroll around were covered and over grown in beautifully coloured flowers and wildlife. A photographers dream!
We started off in what has to be one of my favourite parts of Brighton, the secret gardens which is well hidden just besides Preston Manners Court Yard. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Brighton or live in Brighton id well recommend visiting it, it’s so peaceful and has the prettiest scenery.
There’s four parts to this paradise divided by pathways. Two parts are just filled with wild flowers, bursting with colour. although it is over very grown, I feel it gives the garden an edge that it pulls the scenery together. Then there’s two parts for sitting, one with just a bench under a apple tree and the other part is a pond filled with gold fishes and benches around it. I believe this garden is a good place to go when life is getting to much, stress is taking over and you feel yourself getting worked up, I feel this garden would be an amazing place for you to relax, reflect and become calm again.
After spending some time photographing the secret garden we went off to Preston Rockery another beautiful public place filled with vibrant flowers and people relaxing having picnics. Unfortunately it’s not disabled adapted so I can’t go into the rockery but I photographed and took in the view as much as I possibly could.
Finally we walked back through the part of Preston park which wasn’t sectioned off and in my opinion it’s the best part of the park fortunately. As we walked between the tennis courts we captured some of the most beautiful neon purple thistles which the bees were obsessing over, they caught my eye instantly as they was a plant I’d never seen before. Alongside the thistles were the most perfect giant daisys which also had the wild life obsessing over them. Their pink petals shone beside all the greenery which really made their middle pop!
After spending God knows how long photographing the beauty of those thistles and giant daisys, we continued to walk through and ended up on a lawn filled with wild flowers. There was tons of different colourful wild flowers growing throughout – poppies, daisys, corn flowers, buttercups and so many more meadow flowers. The good thing with being low down in a wheelchair is you can capture such unique pictures which is a harder for those who walk. You can get the height of the flowers perfectly and capture their true patterns and colours on their petals.
As you can probably tell flowers amaze me and I really enjoy capturing their true beauty close up. Their vibrant colours draw me in and each flower has a unique aspect about them.
I had such a lovely afternoon with my dad spending quality time together whilst doing the thing we love best. Their really is some beautiful places within Brighton and the secret garden is one of them. I really hope you enjoyed today’s post and liked looking at my photos.
I hope your all well!
Tons of love as always,
Elle xo
