Christmas Wreath Bronuts Recipe!

Hello lovelies,

Today’s bake is one I’ve been making, baking and decorating for a good three/four of years now.

Every festive period I get my apron on, get the ingredients out and get baking these incredible sweet treats that my loved ones absolutely adore.

When scrolling through the bakes I’ve done over the years, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I realised I had never shared this recipe with you guys. I agree, it’s terrible of me but nevertheless, I’m here now sharing it with you all and I just know you’re going to love these.

Inspired by the queen of baking herself, Jane Dunn (known as Jane Patisserie online), today’s bake has become a firm favourite in this household.

I’ve rambled on enough, let’s get into it.

If you hadn’t noticed by the title of today’s post, today I’m sharing with you my version of the social media sensation ‘Christmas Wreath Donuts’.

A indulgent, rich, fudgy brownie shaped as donut, decorated with silky smooth vanilla buttercream and some christmas sprinkles – yup, it’s as easy as that! These bronuts are such a simple treat to make, bake and decorate and are guaranteed to have people talking!

So, if you’d like to create these ‘christmas wreath bronuts’ yourself, you know the drill by now. Keep on scrolling below and you’ll find today’s recipe.

Category: Sweet Treat / Christmas

Servings: 15 Bronuts

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Bake Time: 20 Minutes

Decorating Time: 30 Minutes

Overall Time: 1+ Hours

Ingredients You Need For The Bronuts:

  • 200g Of Dark Chocolate
  • 200g Of Unsalted Butter
  • 4 Medium Eggs
  • 275g Of Caster Sugar
  • 100g Of Plain Flour
  • 50g Of Cocoa Powder
  • 200g Of White Chocolate Chips
  • 100g Of Milk Chocolate Chips

Ingredients You Need To Decorate:

  • 125g Of Unsalted Butter
  • 200g Of Icing Sugar
  • 2tsp Of Vanilla Bean Paste / Extract
  • 1tsp Of Green Food Colouring
  • Christmas Coloured/Themed Sprinkles

How To Make The Bronuts:

  • Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients, grease a doughnut tin well with butter and preheat the oven to 180C / 160C Fan / Gas Mark 4.
  • Secondly, in a microwavable bowl, add both the 200g of dark chocolate and 200g of unsalted butter. Place the bowl into the microwave and in 20 second blasts, blast the butter/chocolate until fully melted.
  • When both the ingredients have melted, remove from the microwave and place to one side to cool to room temperature.
  • Now, in a large bowl, using an electric whisk, whisk together the 3 large eggs with the 275g of caster sugar for around 8 minutes, until the colour has turned pale, the mixture is mousse like and the volume has doubled in size (TIP: you will know it’s done when you lift the whisk up out from the mixture and it should leave a trail for a couple of seconds, before disappearing).
  • Once whisked, pour the melted and cooled chocolate/butter mixture over the eggs and very carefully fold together (TIP: being careful and patient is crucial at this stage because you don’t want to knock the air out of the mixture).
  • When combined, sift in the 100g of plain flour and 50g of cocoa powder and carefully fold into the mixture.
  • Fold in the 200g of white chocolate chips and 100g of milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the brownie batter.
  • Place the brownie batter into a piping bag, snip off the tip of the bag and pipe the brownie batter into the prepared doughnut tin.
  • Once piped into the doughnut tin, place the bronuts into the oven and bake for around 20 minutes, until the tops have cracked and a skewer placed into the centre of the brownie comes out clean.
  • When the brownies are baked, take out the oven and allow to cool in the tin for around 10 minutes before carefully transferring onto a wire rack to cool completely.

How To Decorate:

  • Now that the brownies have cooled, it’s time to decorate.
  • In a stand mixer or in a large bowl using an electric whisk, beat the 125g of unsalted butter on its own for a few minutes to loosen.
  • Then, in 2-3 additions, beating well between each addition, add the 200g of icing sugar, 2tsp of vanilla extract and 1tsp of green food colouring until a silky smooth, green coloured buttercream has formed.
  • Transfer the buttercream into a piping bag with a 2D star piping nozzle attached and pipe the buttercream onto the Bronuts to make what looks like a wreath.
  • Finally, add some festive sprinkles onto the buttercream and then, serve.

That’s your Christmas Wreath Bronuts prepared, baked, cooled and decorated, ready for you to enjoy!
