Hello lovelies,
the drugstore companies have been killing it at the moment, the last couple of months have been so exciting. There have been plenty of new brand launches, relaunches and quite a few products which have just been on my list for while.
I’ve always loved the drugstore, it’s how I started my makeup collection and watching it come on in leap and bounds is so exciting to see. Brands are just continuing to produce products which are exceeding all expectations and I’m loving it.
Anyway, before I ramble on anymore, let’s get on with my drugstore discoveries;
Elf, Illuminating Palette | £7.50
Elf Cosmetics is a new brand to the UK. it’s an American drugstore brand which is well loved and spoken about so when I heard that it had been brought over to the UK and launched at Superdrug, i was overjoyed. This is a beautiful illuminating palette which contains four different shades, which all compliment each other nicely. When swatching each shade I noticed they are very powdery, so you don’t need much product at all! With application to the tops of your cheeks, each of these shades depending on your skin colour etc will be perfect for highlighting (that’s what I use this palette for). These don’t contain any glitter or chunkiness which is something that stood out and I liked when I saw this palette. This is defiantly a bit more of a natural highlight, with that being said its still noticeable. It blends well also. Furthermore, all I have to mention is, I would recommend setting this with a setting spray due to it being powdery it’s not as long lasting. Overall, it’s gorgeous.
Maybelline, Master Blush Palette | £12.99
I saw this palette taking over the internet like a storm and I knew then that I had to get it. When a palette looks as pretty as this one, you just can’t say no….can you? I’m a little late on the band wagon I know but despite that I wanted to share this with you all. This is a palette which contains three unique yet gorgeous blush colours and one highlighting colour which all compliment one another well. The pigmentation of this palette blew me away, I saw reviews saying this was pigmented but it’s much more pigmented than I first thought so be careful when applying. It looks very matte within the pan but when applying to the face, each shade has a shimmer throughout it – it doesn’t contain any glitter or chunkiness but does come off shimmery on the face when applied. Each shade of blush mix well with one another and the palette blends really well!
Tanya Burr, Face Illuminator | £7.49
If you didn’t know already, which I’m sure you do, Tanya Burr is well known and loved youtuber. She released her Cosmetics line 2014 but I wasn’t too fused by it, not until Tanya released her face illuminator. This is a liquid illuminator with a beautiful golden tone to it. This is a multi-use product, it can be; mixed with a foundation to give it glowly finish, worn alone to illuminate the skin or as a primer as makeup applies beautifully over the top. I myself very rarely wear foundation so I love to wear this product alone as it has such a natural finish to it, it gives my skin back it’s radiance and has a slight tint to it making me look a little more bronzed (which is always good seen as I’m transparent). It lasts well throughout the day also.
Revolution, Luxury Banana Powder | £5.00
Revolution have just launched a brand new range of products to their collection, this banana powder included. This is a highly mattifing powder which will reduce any shine. This does have colour payoff so this may change the colour of your foundation/concealer slightly, it shouldn’t too much. This powder also has colour correcting within it, so it can correct redness and pink undertones within your skin making you have a flawless bass. I’ve found this product to have very long lasting but can be very drying on my skin so I do have to set it with a hydrating setting mist.
Rimmel, Natural Bronzer | £5.99
Rimmel is known in the drugstore for making good face products, especially when it comes too powders, bronzer etc and that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. A bronzer which doesn’t look too orange on my pasty skin tone. Being as pale as I am it’s hard to find a bronzer which doesn’t make you look bright orange or muddy so when I came across this “natural bronzer” that was in between warm / cool tone I knew I had to get it. It’s pigmentated but buildable, it certainly isn’t patchy and is super blendable. Like it’s name, it looks so natural on the skin, it’s completely matte and will look nice on every skin colour.
Barry M has brought out a whole new range of matte liquid lipsticks Which have spiralled the internet as people have been comparing them to the kylie lipkits. So as you can imagine I had to get one myself to try out. One thing I can say is, they are defiantly long wearing – I wore more for a good 9 hours without it moving off my lips. I did buy mine as a lipkit but unfortunately didn’t get a lip liner in with mine for some unknown reason but I did use one of my own lip liner underneath this and it felt pretty comfortable throughout the day. It does get a little drying so I just applied a layer of gloss over top and that sorted that out straight away!
Primark, Hydrating Mineral Water Mist | £2.99
Primark has also brought a new collection of hydrating products out to their makeup range which obviously I jumped on straight away. This is a game changer for people with dry skin. I’m not going to lie, when I first sprayed this on my skin, it burnt like a *beeeeeep* but it settled quickly and made my skin feel so hydrated. Once the excess has settled into your skin, it gives you a hint of radiance! I use this in the morning and evening but this can be applied over makeup to freshen up if needs be.
Congratulations if you made it to the end, this is a long list of products but I wanted to share these with you all as they are too good not too. This is everything I’ve discovered from the drugstore throughout July!
Have you tried any of these products I’ve listed above? If so what are your thoughts? Have you found any drugstore products you love throughout July, if so please share them as I’d love to know.
Sending you tons of love and hugs as always,
Elle xo
