Baked Ham & Cheese Rolls Recipe!

Hello lovelies,

As you guys know, I’m mostly a food blogger who shares utterly delicious sweet treats. That’s mainly what my blog is based on now days BUT every now and then, when I’m feeling a little crazy (sarcasm), I like to share something savoury to switch things up and from feedback, you guys do enjoy the savoury snacks also.

So, guess what I’m sharing today?… yup, that’s right, ya gal has gone wild and baked what I can only describe as one of the best savoury snacks I’ve ever made. I know, I sound big headed whenever I say that but guys, it’s the god damn truth haha.

These are very different to anything I’ve created and shared with you before which is why I think I love them so much. There’s nothing better than coming across something online, being inspired by them, then creating your own version and absolutely falling in love with the outcome. It’s a bakers dream.

So when I came across a post on pinterest from a crazy talented chef called Jess, also known as ‘Inquiring Chef’ online, I knew it was the recipe to do exactly that with.

Whilst my recipe is mainly based on what Jess has shared on her page, I’ve made it my own and the outcome has me obsessed. If you couldn’t tell already.

Pizza dough, filled with ham & cheese, rolled and smothered in a garlic butter then baked to perfection – if that doesn’t entice you in, I don’t know what will.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Bake Time: 30-40 Minutes

Ingredients You Need For The Baked Rolls:

  • 1x Ready Rolled Pizza Dough
  • 10 Slices Of Cooked Ham
  • 10 Slices Of Mature Cheddar Cheese
  • 1tbsp Of Unsalted Butter, Melted

Ingredients You Need For The Garlic Butter Glaze:

  • 100g Of Unsalted Butter, Melted
  • 3tsp Of Garlic Puree
  • Italian Herbs

How To Make The Baked Rolls:

  • Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients, line a baking dish with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 200C / 180C Fan / Gas Mark 5.
  • Secondly, unroll the pizza dough onto a floured work surface.
  • Next, brush the melted 1tbsp of unsalted butter across the top of the pizza dough.
  • In a single layer, top the pizza dough with the 10 slices of cooked ham and then 10 slices of mature cheddar cheese.
  • Very carefully and tightly, roll the pizza dough up into a long log so that the ham and cheese slices are on the inside.
  • Using a serrated knife, slice the log into 8-10 rolls (this will depend on how big you cut the rolls).
  • Place the rolls into the prepared baking dish.

How To Make The Garlic Butter Glaze:

  • Mix together the melted 100g of unsalted butter with the 3tsp of garlic puree and a sprinkling of Italian herbs.
  • Pour the garlic butter glaze over the top of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
  • Place the rolls into the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden on top and the dough is cooked through.
  • Finally, once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and I’d recommend serving warm.

That’s your Baked Ham & Cheese Rolls prepared and baked, ready for you to enjoy!


Notes:

  • Once baked, allow the rolls to cool down completely before storing in an airtight container overnight. I wouldn’t recommend storing these beyond 48 hours, as they go stale easily.
  • These can easily be reheated in the microwave. You can also reheat in the oven but the rolls would need to be covered by tin foil.
  • If you use thicker slices of ham or cheese, don’t overlap the pieces because it will make it harder to roll.
