Churros Recipe!

Hello lovelies,

I don’t know about you but every year when we go on holiday, the one thing I look forward to most is finding a churro van/shop and getting myself a large pot of churros (with a chocolate dipping sauce ofc).

I won’t lie, myself & my mum are slightly obsessed with churros. The best churros I’ve ever had are from Salou, Spain. I can’t even explain how god damn amazing they were. My mouths watering just thinking about them.

So for Christmas a couple of years ago, my mum brought me my very own churro machine from Aldi’s and the excitement was real… very real.

It’s taken a couple of try’s to get the churros perfect but we finally found a recipe which worked beautifully with my churro machine and I just had to share it with you guys!

I wasn’t 100% sure if homemade churros would live up to the churros from Spain. I was very wary that I wouldn’t enjoy them as much but I can honestly say, hand on heart, that these were just as good as the ones from Spain. With my churro machine, it isn’t deep fat fried, it’s just baked so they defiantly weren’t as crispy as those in Spain but they still tasted pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

{ FYI: if you don’t have a churro machine, that’s okay. You can fry them either in a deep fat fryer or air fryer instead }

Category: Sweet Treat

Serves: 15-20

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cook Time: 10 Minutes Each

Overall Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients You Need For Churros:

  • 250ml Of Water
  • 112g Of Butter
  • 1/4tsp Of Salt
  • 3/4tsp Of Ground Cinnamon
  • 155g Of Plain Flour
  • 3 Eggs
  • 100g Of Caster Sugar

Ingredients You Need For Decorating:

  • 50g Of Caster Sugar
  • 1tsp Of Cinnamon

How To Make Churros:

  • Firstly, gather together your equipment and ingredients.
  • Secondly, in a saucepan over a medium heat, combine the 250ml of water, 112g of butter, 1/4tsp of salt and 3/4tsp of cinnamon. Allow the mixture to melt and bring to the boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce to a low heat.
  • Next, add 155g of plain flour and stir the dough vigorously until the mixture forms a ball. (TIP: it will look and feel very thick but that’s okay).
  • When the mixture is well-combined, remove from heat and allow to rest for 5-7 minutes. (TIP: the resting stage is important because if the dough is too hot, it could make the eggs scramble).
  • Once the dough has cooled, add the eggs, one at a time, stirring well between each addition.
  • At this stage the finished dough should be smooth and well-combined.
  • Now, plug in your churro machine and allow to heat up.
  • When the temperature has risen enough, the light on the machine will turn green.
  • Whilst heating up, place your churro mixture into a piping bag and snip off the end.
  • Now that the heat is right, open the churro machine and pipe the churro mixture onto the lower hot plate from one end to the other.
  • Once piped onto the machine, shut the lid of the machine and allow to cook for around 10 minutes before checking on the churros.
  • Whilst the churros are cooking, on a large plate, mix together the 50g of caster sugar with 1tsp of cinnamon.
  • When you’ve checked on the churros and your happy with how they’re looking (TIP: they’ll be golden brown and hardened), take out the machine and place straight onto the large plate with the sugar mixture.
  • Roll the hot churros in the sugar mixture (TIP: the hotter the churros, the better the sugar & cinnamon will stick).
  • Finally, place onto a separate plate to cool and serve!

That’s your Churros prepared, baked, coated and ready for you to enjoy!

Almost look as good as the ones from Spain, right? *wink wink*.

Proper chuffed with how these turned out, let’s just say the recipe took some perfecting but we got there in the end and the result is delicious! Myself & mum are obsessed and think you’ll be too.

Let me know in the comments if you make these Churros yourself and if you do, what your thoughts are on them. Did you find them to be as good as the ones you get abroad?

Sending you all tons of love & hugs as always,

Elle xo
